An easy recipe where the slow cooking does all the work of adding depths of flavour
Joint of boneless shoulder
2 tsp English mustard powder
2tbsp cinnamon powder
150ml maple syrup
2 star anise
Cook the pork from room temperature. Remove the skin for crackling or discard.
Place the pork in the slow cooker. Make a paste with the maple syrup, cinnamon and mustard powder. Pour/ spread over the meat, top with the star anise. No need to add water to the pot. Cook on low for minimum of 8hrs. Once cooked remove the meat from the pot and pull apart. Pour over the juices and serve with whatever you fancy be it salad, rice, veggies or in a bun with apple sauce 🙂
